Otovo ASA, the Oslo-listed renewable energy services platform, has closed its acquisition of SunSystem Technology for $1.3 million, expanding its operations and maintenance footprint across the distributed solar market. The deal marks the seventh acquisition the company has completed since December 2025, signaling an aggressive consolidation strategy in the fragmented U.S. solar services sector.
SunSystem Technology operates across 14 states providing O&M services to distributed generation assets, primarily residential and commercial solar installations. The deal, which followed a letter of intent announced in June 2026, adds this regional platform to Otovo's growing national network, bringing the company's service coverage to approximately 30% of the U.S.
The rapid succession of acquisitions - seven closings in roughly seven months - reflects Otovo's strategy to consolidate fragmented regional operators in the distributed solar services market. By integrating SunSystem's customer base and operational infrastructure, Otovo aims to achieve economies of scale in preventative maintenance, equipment monitoring, and service dispatch across its expanded territory.
The deal underscores ongoing consolidation trends in the solar O&M sector, where larger platforms seek to aggregate smaller regional providers to compete with national contractors and enhance customer retention. With distributed solar installations proliferating across the residential and small commercial segments, investors view consolidated service platforms as attractive defensive assets and cash flow generators.
