Northampton & Olympus JV to Acquire 752 MW Power Plants from Vistra

Northampton Capital Partners and Olympus Power have established a joint venture to acquire three thermal generation facilities totaling 752 MW of capacity from a Vistra subsidiary.

The newly-formed partnership, operating under the Winslow Power banner, will take control of the generating stations spanning New England and New York.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The combination positions the joint venture as a significant owner-operator of conventional generation capacity in a region where baseload supply remains strategically important to grid stability.

The transaction underscores a broader trend of private capital targeting undervalued thermal generation assets during periods of market transition. Institutional investors have increasingly acquired conventional plants from major utilities and merchant generators seeking portfolio rationalization. The Northeast market remains attractive to infrastructure funds given transmission constraints and seasonal demand patterns that support reliable generation assets.

Completion of the Winslow Power acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.
